Ballroom and Latin American Dance

Discover the essential steps of the Social Foxtrot, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Merengue and the Waltz; for those with little or no experience.

This course will cover the basic steps of the Cha-Cha, Rumba, Waltz and Social Foxtrot. The focus will be on identifying the differences between Latin and Ballroom, music, stance, poise and becoming comfortable with the different movements. Time will be spent on building up confidence to dance and have an enjoyable experience. Learners will also improve their general level of fitness and muscle tone from the dance class contributes to a healthy lifestyle and improved well-being.

The course is flexible to suit the needs of students, providing revision and practice.

 

Learning Outcomes:

* Identify Ballroom and Latin Hold, Posture and Movement
* Identify different music, Ballroom or Latin
* Developing Partnering Skills
* Demonstrate the dance moves taught, comfortably, in time to the music.

Students will need to bring the following to the first session: a bottle of water, loose comfortable clothing and preferably soft-bottom footwear.

 

Please do not wear stilettos.

The course will take place on Tuesdays from 6:30 pm to 8 pm at Thatcham Rugby Club (Henwick Ln, Thatcham RG18 3BN)
